Meet Morgan Hendershot
Jun 23, 2025

Position: Lead Systems Administrator
Years with Rees: 3 Years
Fun Fact: I grew up playing Chess and Risk so now I mostly play strategy board games or simulator video games, but I love traveling for our dog. We have a rare breed from Nova Scotia, so every so often my partner and I get to take a long weekend and bring him to an out of state dog show. As a bonus I get to sight see! My favorite place we visited was the Harvard University arboretum.
Something I’ve always wanted to learn: I love learning so it's a bit difficult to choose just one thing! I would like to continue to expand my electrical engineering knowledge though, because I find it really interesting, kind of like a fun puzzle.
Why did you join the Rees Team?
My former manager, Matt Zorner, immediately clicked with me during my interview. I was supposed to be a part time temporary hire, but after a single day working together, he brought me on full time. I still remember being brought into HR my second day, thinking I was in trouble!
I loved how unique our products were, and that it genuinely helps the industries we support. Everything is done in house, so if I ever had a question I was able to ask and get an answer. That, and of course, the people! Matt, James, Andy, Vishal and Derrick made the tech support department a true dream team. The actual work done in the field wouldn't have been possible without folks like Mark and Jackie out in the South East, or members of our engineering team like Sameer and Jakob.
Describe any work experience or training you had prior to your employment at Rees.
I worked at the front desk of OIT for Rider University for three years, completely overhauling their knowledge base and training materials. After being promoted to manager, I decided to pivot and focused on getting my Master of Science in Information Systems. Doing so greatly improved my overall knowledge of business (and of course, IT systems)! I was still getting my masters when I joined Rees, so it was cool to see my curriculum follow the work I was now doing on a daily basis.
How has your role evolved since you joined Rees?
Quite significantly. I went from external product support, to internal IT. I miss working with my customers quite a bit, but I love that I get to support our employees and our new business initiatives. Always learning something new, which I love!
Tell us about a favorite memory from working at Rees.
I have many fond memories, but one of my favorites is when Matt was teaching me about electrical circuits. He showed me some labs online I could learn from, then we did some silly experiments like making a simple motor out of a battery and some paper clips. It was really fun, and I really appreciated him taking the time to teach me something new. He was a really great guy!
What are some of the Rees products or services that have received positive feedback from the customers you interact with?
I don't get to work with our customers as frequently as I used to, but I had the chance last year to support one of our customers with a custom Fresh Desk instance. Otherwise, I know many of our customers are very excited about implementing Single Sign On into our Centron software!
How do you envision the future of Rees in terms of growth, innovation and impact?
Only going up from here! As the leader in environmental monitoring, I believe we set the tone for the industry. As we continue to strengthen our partnerships with our customers, and with our new additions to the engineering department, I think the work we do will continue to be very important.
