Employee Spotlight Willian Velasquez

Position: Project Manager

Years with Rees: 1 Year

Fun Fact: When I have the time and the ability to do so, I like to fire up the forge and do some blacksmithing.

Something I’ve always wanted to learn: Given enough time and enough patience from my wife, I would like to learn to play an instrument.

Why did you join the Rees Team?
I joined the Rees Team as a validation technician, because a good friend of mine, who is also a validation technician with Rees, enjoyed his job. I liked the idea of the hardware, the system and what it does in the medical and manufacturing space. I saw that there was opportunity for growth and the ability to take on new roles and new challenges.

Describe any work experience or training you had prior to your employment at Rees.
Prior to Rees, I held my fair share of customer service-related jobs which helped me learn the importance of customer service, and the importance of maintaining a professional attitude in all situations. After that, my time in the military helped hone my responsibility to take pride in my work. It gave me the drive to always finish my tasks correctly without cutting corners. Specifically, my job in the military being medical related, taught me the importance of proper record keeping, traceability, and how to be proactive instead of reactive.

How has your role evolved since you joined Rees?
In the short time I have been with Rees, I have become a trusted technician able to handle bigger jobs on my own. Now I am a Project Manager overseeing many projects across several regions.

Tell us about a favorite memory from working at Rees.
My favorite memory working at Rees was getting to travel to Europe to help some of the technicians over in that region. Being able to see new places was fun and getting to shake hands with and work alongside fellow technicians whose experiences are very different but also similar to my own due to the nature of the work was quite enjoyable.

What are some of the Rees products or services that have received positive feedback from the customers you interact with?
One of the products I have received a lot of positive feedback about are the Wifi transmitters. The customers have enjoyed their stability and range, as well as their ability to move the unit, without having to worry about a gap in continuity. Another service I've gotten great feedback for is our new protocol method. The bespoke paperwork we generate for the customer is able to get them exactly what they need while severely cutting down on the paperwork they have to keep track of.

How do you envision the future of Rees in terms of growth, innovation and impact?
I see Rees becoming the go to for environmental monitoring. Our product is good, and we have the potential to be as well known in labs as other companies. We keep working on new transmitters, on efficiency, on making the customer experience the best we can make it. I see the future of Rees as being one of exponential growth.
