Zafar Toshmukhamedov

Name: Zafar Toshmukhamedov

Position: Master Service Specialist

Years with Rees: 3 Years

Fun Fact: I love walking in nature and contemplating the beauty of creation.

Something I’ve always wanted to learn or try: I have always wanted to learn about automation and remote monitoring technology. It’s an area that is becoming more important in our field.

Why did you join the Rees Team?

I joined the Rees Team because I am passionate about technology that provides crucial data to help medical organizations support sustainability and public health. This role appealed to me because it connects my technical background with my previous fieldwork experience.

Describe any work experience or training you had prior to your employment at Rees and how it has helped your current role.

Before joining Rees, I was trained as an Audio/Video installer and certified as an Imaging and Science Foundation TV calibrator. That experience gave me a strong technical foundation in precision measurement, calibration standards, and color science. I learned how to use specialized instruments, follow a detailed calibration procedure, and interpret data to achieve accurate system performance. All skills that translate directly into my current role in Environmental Monitoring Systems.

How has your role evolved since you joined Rees?

Since joining Rees, my role has evolved from performing basic field service tasks to handling installation and troubleshooting complex tasks independently. Overall, I’ve become a more confident field technician, contributing to higher service quality and a better customer experience.

Tell us about a favorite memory from working at Rees.

One of my favorite moments was completing a challenging system installation of 370 points at a client in Laval, QC. Despite a tough situation, our team worked closely together to troubleshoot and finish the job successfully. Another highlight was attending a regional meeting with upper management, Steve Halford, Chris Kanab,y and Desrene Rhatigan in Toronto. It was motivating to share field experiences, learn about upcoming projects, and feel recognized for our contributions. Moments like those reminded me how teamwork and communication drive the company's success.

What are some of the Rees products or services that have received positive feedback from the customers you interact with? What did the customers have to say about those products or services?

Last month, I was on a service call at a client site for replacing CO2 probes on one of the incubators. The head of the Leukemia Research Department told me a heartbreaking story of newborn babies with leukemia and how they go through painful bone marrow tests.  Their department relies on our Environmental Monitoring System to support their research. Hearing stories like that brings me immense joy, knowing our technology plays a role in easing patients’ suffering and advancing work that serves humanity.

How do you envision the future of Rees in terms of growth, innovation, and impact?

I see the company continuing to grow as a leader in Environmental Monitoring by focusing on innovation and smart technology. There is a big opportunity for us to expand.
