Kevin King - Employee Spotlight

Position: Master Field Service Specialist

Years with Rees: 5 Years

Military/Veteran Status: Yes, I am a veteran. I served 6 years in the US Navy from 1984 to 1990.

Fun Fact: My favorite pastimes are traveling and spending time exercising my three dogs.

Something I’ve always wanted to learn: Personally, I have always wanted to try skydiving. I figure after 30 years of jumping headfirst into crashing computer networks, jumping out of a perfectly good airplane should feel like a walk in the park!

Why did you join the Rees Team?
After returning to the States in 2014 and settling in the Seattle area, this opportunity presented itself at the perfect time. The position was appealing because it allowed me to leverage my deep technical background in a dynamic environment where I could make a direct, tangible impact on our operations and client satisfaction.

Describe any work experience or training you had prior to your employment at Rees.
I bring over 30 years of experience in systems engineering and tech support, including 6 years in the US Navy and providing worldwide tech support for the Department of Defense (DoD). This background taught me how to handle intense pressure. Essentially, I can engineer complex system architectures, but I also know how to use a stick and a rock to make fire if the power goes out. No matter how heated a server crisis gets, I have learned that you must always keep your sense of humor.

Tell us about a favorite memory from working at Rees.
Spending over seven weeks in Iquitos, Peru, with another technician, Danny Rivera. We faced daily power outages and endless technical hurdles in Iquitos. Surviving that intense environment while keeping our operations running, and keeping my sense of humor completely intact without a stick or a rock to light the room, is my absolute favorite memory.

What are some of the Rees products or services that have received positive feedback from the customers you interact with?
The majority of the clients I interact with are most impressed by our on-site support and quick crisis response. When they have critical technical issues, they consistently praise how fast we jump into action to resolve their problems, minimize their downtime, and bring a calm, reassuring attitude to high-stress situations.

How do you envision the future of Rees in terms of growth, innovation and impact?
To drive future growth and innovation, Rees must continue to maintain and develop our Installation Operation Qualification (IOQ) process, as it is the foundational backbone this company was built upon. If we pair that robust, compliant process with aggressively modernizing the technology currently in use, our impact on the industry will be limitless. No matter how fast we grow, we just have to remember the ultimate rule: always keep your sense of humor!
